Position Description Summary:

The Electrician performs a wide variety of Electromechanical- mechanical and solid state apparatus field work in maintenance, alterations, and contraction assignments, requiring the skill of a qualified journey level Electrician Mechanic. Work is supervised. Position supports all facets of power distribution in process plants and all work performed safely and to code.

Principal Accountabilities:

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS

- Safety Orientated in planning and executing all work.

- Supports all facets of power distribution in process plants

- Prepare maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends.

- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations

- Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results a s needed

- Communicate with co-workers, other craftsmen and contract resources to share information and work requirements.

Knowledge and Skills:

- 10 years of experience as a State licensed Electrician required.

- Minimum 5 years of industrial plant experience required.

- Minimum 2 years of Petroleum/refinery industry experience preferred.

- Excellent understanding of three phase 480V motors required.

- Be able to read schematics and one-lines.

- Experience with the following:

Motor control centers.

Voltages ranging from 120 VAC to 13,800 VAC.

UPS systems.

Must be familiar with the following:

Medium voltage (2400, 4160, 13,800) switchgear and starter.

Control circuit, relays, switches, timers, etc.

Familiarity with overhead power lines.

Must have some knowledge of PLC

Must have some knowledge of:

Controls-digital I/O and analog I/O.

Synchronous motors.

Other requirements:

Valid driver's license required.

Valid Texas State Electrician license required.

On occasion will be required to work 12 hour shifts.

Must be able to work weekends and or holidays.

Job duties include wearing respirator protection- No beards or goatees.

Physical Requirements

* Seeing: Must be able to read reports and use computer.
* Hearing: Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with co-workers.
* Talking: Must be able to express and exchange ideas by means of spoken words.
* Sitting: Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
* Standing/Walking/Mobility: Must be able to stand and walk distances of up to ¼ mile.
* Bending/Reaching/Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: Must be able to bend, reach and stoop. The employee is occasionally required to work in confined spaces and vessels as well as lift up to 55 pounds from the knuckle to waist height and push/pull and twist a maximum of 75 pounds of force.
* Fingering/Grasping/Feeling: Major portions of daily work require application of manual skills involving motor coordination and finger dexterity.
* The employee occasionally climbs stairs up to 75 feet, and works at heights of 150 feet above the ground. Balance must be excellent.
* This is a safety sensitive position: will have to pass a physical fitness test, drug screening, and background check. In addition, they will be subject to random drug testing.
* Must comply with OSHA Respiratory Protection guidelines and the company respiratory protection program which includes a medical evaluation and fit test to determine the ability to wear a respirator. Must be able to don appropriate respiratory equipment to protect the employee whenever respirators are required.

Work Environment

* Work is typically performed outside in an oil refinery setting.
* Analyzing and troubleshooting will require trips into the refinery setting. Proper PPE and training will be supplied and adherence to all safety and operational procedures will need to be followed.
* Heavy exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and flammable substances.
* Light exposure to electrical shock, bright or dim lighting, wet or humid conditions, and extreme heat (non-weather).
* Light exposure to extreme heat and cold, moving mechanical parts, loud noise, and vibrations.
* Light exposure to outdoor weather conditions including wind, rain, snow and heat.
* During unscheduled outages, work may involve assignment on nights and weekends.

10 years of experience as a State licensed Electrician required.

Minimum 5 years of industrial plant experience required.

Excellent understanding of three phase 480V motors required.

Valid driver's license required.

Valid Texas State Electrician license required.
