The St. Paul Park Refinery has a full-time opening for a Contractor Supervisor, an exempt position which reports to the Maintenance Superintendent.  The Supervisor’s main job duties are to coordinate work assignments, work as a liaison between the contractors and the Operations and Maintenance departments, drive work flow efficiency, and maintain related Key Performance Indicators.   Other duties and projects will be assigned.



  • Provide safety and environmental leadership in accordance with site requirements.
  • Drive a strong safety culture within staff and supports safety across the refinery at all levels.
  • Lead, supervise, and mentor maintenance contractors and their leadership.
  • Supervise St. Paul Park heavy equipment operator and janitor.
  • Conduct daily safety toolbox meetings and assign work.
  • Manage refinery vehicles and heavy equipment fleet.
  • Collaborate with Operations to develop, resource load, and execute maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with maintenance and plant procedures.
  • Provide daily progress report on craft activities to the Maintenance Superintendent.
  • Provide routine feedback to employees in the form of performance reviews, coaching, mentoring, and corrective action, as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain a 3 week maintenance schedule.
  • Attend daily Maintenance & Operations daily work flow meetings.
  • Conduct and participate in incident investigations.
  • Conduct field safety audits & lead monthly safety sequential meetings.
  • Administer and adhere to bargaining unit contract.
  • Recommend and update procedures to increase efficiencies.
  • Recommend the purchase of materials, equipment, and supplies for the assigned department.
  • Develop and maintain Key Performance Indicators.
  • Utilize Enterprise Asset Management & Computerized Maintenance Management System for work closure activities and accurate maintenance record keeping.
  • Communicate issues & develop solutions with Operations on field issues and deficiencies.
  • Adapt to changing operational priorities and shift resources appropriately to provide support.
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • Minimum 5 years of experience with refinery or heavy industrial setting.
  • Relevant supervisory or field coordination experience.
  • Familiarity with refinery equipment codes & standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Mechanical and Civil aptitude.
  • General knowledge of refinery equipment (exchangers, tanks, vessels, etc.).



  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of practical supervisory experience.
  • Experience with Oracle eAM or equivalent.
  • Experience with collective bargaining agreements.
