Job Description

Western Refining Inc., is seeking a Lease Representative, West Texas. The ideal candidate will be responsible for lease crude acquisition in the West Texas and Southeastern New Mexico areas, and assists in business development and project analysis for crude supplies that would go to El Paso. Acquires and manages economics of outright crude supply from independent producers for the El Paso Refinery. Maintains knowledge of crude oil activity, and movement in the West Texas and Southern New Mexico area in order to maintain crude oil supplies for the refineries. Works closely with Crude Transportation and Pipeline Operations to minimize laid-in cost of crude. Assists the VP of Crude Supply as necessary to manage acquisition of required grades and management of inventories.

Major Job Tasks:

* Maintains regular contact with suppliers and marketing customers via sales calls, site visits, phone calls, and correspondence. Develops long-term crude supplies by providing unmatched customer service and satisfaction.
* Travel required (30%)
* Responsible for managing, evaluating, soliciting, and negotiating crude oil purchases and favorable marketing contracts.
* Monitors crude oil activity and movements in Western's crude supply area to keep Western competitive and knowledgeable of crude supply.
* Coordinate marketing opportunities with refinery and supply & marketing personnel to maximize profitability.
* Analyzes laid-in crude costs and marketing information to facilitate understanding, minimize laid-in costs of crude and maximize profitability.
* Monitors Western's Crude Gathering Operations and provides assistance as needed to ensure an uninterrupted crude supply to the refinery.
* Maintains a competitive analysis file to determine the alternatives of our competition to keep Western competitive with other markets

Bachelor's degree in Business or other analytical degree.

Proven written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills to compose correspondence, reports, and proposals, communicate with business contacts in a courteous and professional manner, with the ability to work effectively with others in order to coordinate activities and arrive at mutual decisions.

Advance knowledge of mathematics and statistics to calculate and interpret complex data or develop forecasts and computer models.

Ability to provide a high level of customer service by answering questions, providing accurate information, and responding to requests on a timely basis.

Ability to persuade others to a course of action by instructing, convincing, or influencing through professional guidance using logic and example.

Ability to plan and schedule activities over several months, including regular review and coordination of activities required for implementation.

Ability to develop and administer an expense budget for a single profit center.

Ability to develop new ideas and approaches for the creation of new methods, systems, policies or services.

Ability to define problems, collect incomplete and difficult to obtain data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to work effectively with periodic guidance and review by upper management.

30% travel required

Must have a valid drivers' license and provide proof of insurance.
