Job Description

Western Refining is seeking to hire an Associate Accountant to support the Retail Accounting Department. The ideal candidate will manage retail convenience store credit card and bank reconciliations. Perform journal entries and balance accounts, identify discrepancies and provide resolutions timely. In performing these tasks you will be working with other internal employees within the retail jobber group, A/P, and A/R on a daily, weekly and/or monthly basis.

Western Refining, Inc. is an independent refining and marketing company headquartered in El Paso, Texas. The refining segment operates refineries in El Paso, and Gallup, New Mexico. The retail segment includes retail service stations, convenience stores and unmanned fleet fueling locations in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Texas.

* Bachelor's Degree or Associates Degree with 4 years' experience.
* Experience in preparation of journal entries, credit card and bank reconciliations, money order and gift card reconciliations.
* Must be proficient in Excel.
* Proven written, oral and interpersonal communication skills to work effectively with others in order to coordinate activities and arrive at mutual decisions.
* Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups or managers, customers and the general public.
* Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable where limited standardization exists.
* Ability to work effectively with general supervisory guidance ensuring general internal policies, guidelines, and procedures are utilized.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality.
