Job Description

The Area Supervisor supervises and coordinates activities or workers engaged in Process Plant operations. The main responsibility is safe operations of all units and the on time delivery of products that meet specifications.

Principal Accountabilities:

- Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in refining petroleum products to remove impurities, producing on-specification products and intermediates, and pumping products to other processing units and storage tanks.

- Compiles reports and information required by management or governmental agencies.

- Resolves problems, such as equipment performance, output quality, and work schedules

- Examines procedures and recommends changes to save time, labor, and other costs and to improve quality control and operating efficiency.

- Provides oversight on Unit operation and has primary responsibility to resolve issues.

- Uses Risk Assessment and Mitigation/Contingency Plan Skills in all process areas when resolving situations.

- Evaluates subordinate job performance and conformance to regulations, and recommends appropriate personnel action.(This is an SS function which is supported by the AS)

- Plans, prepares, and revises work schedules and duty assignments according to budget allotments, customer needs, problems, work-loads, and statistical forecasts.(Short and Long Range Plans)

- Trains employees in work and safety procedures and company policies.(This is an SS function which is supported by the AS)

- Verifies completeness and accuracy of subordinates' work, computations, and records.

- Participate in all aspects of Shutdowns, Startups and Turnarounds

Knowledge and Skills:

-- Minimum five (5) years of Process Operations experience preferred.

- Previous Supervisor experience is preferred.

- Must have detailed understanding of how plant equipment functions and plant operation.

- Ability to solve problems by identifying the relevant factors and formulating clear solutions within a limited timeframe.

- Ability to translate financial and accounting concepts into practical application to assist business partners.

- Knowledge and skills in business management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, , leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

- Ability to communicate easily with a wide variety of audiences including management as well as external vendors.

- Work effectively in a cross-functional environment with a variety of technical, finance and support groups.

- Skilled at negotiating and influencing others.

Physical Demands :

-The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

-The employee is frequently required to sit, stand and walk. The employee is frequently required to perform manipulation of objects with hands and fingers over computer keyboards and documents. The employee is required to frequently walk distances of up to 1/4 mile. The employee is occasionally required to reach overhead, crawl in confined spaces, stoop and bend at the waist, and climb stairs and steps up to 20 feet at a time with work 150 above the ground on scaffolding and platforms.

-The employee is rarely required to lift up to 55 pounds (fire extinguisher) and push and carry 50 pounds from the floor to knuckle level. The employee is required to have excellent balance for work above the ground.

This is a safety sensitive position: will have to pass a physical fitness test, drug screening, and background check; in addition will be subject to random drug testing.

Candidates must have a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record, as the position requires driving within the refinery complex.
